2018 Homestead Exemption applications due April 1, 2018 (Ganek Law-GA)

Homestead Exemptions 2018 Save On Your Property Taxes

Every county in Georgia offers a tax break for a person’s primary residence.  In order to qualify, the owner must be the owner of record and occupy the property as the principal residence on January 1st.  The homestead exemption will remain on the property until there is a change in ownership.  The method by which a homeowner may file varies from county to county.  Information you may need in filing:  a copy of your recorded Warranty Deed or a copy of your Settlement Statement, along with photo ID.  You may be asked for your automobile registration or tag numbers as proof of principal residency at the Homestead.  More information can be gathered by visiting the websites below or calling the County Tax commissioner’s office.
