Rebecca “Becky” Myers is a 30 year Marietta resident. She is Lead Buyer Specialist on JoAnne Lunt’s Keller Williams team and a member of the Cobb Board of Realtors. Born in Athens, Georgia, her blood runs the red and black as a graduate of The University of Georgia with 1979 cum laude BSEd and 1982 MSEd degrees.
After more than 27 years as an elementary school teacher, Becky comments on her career transition to real estate, “The patience and organization required to teach school have definitely been instrumental in real estate, and both are noble occupations of which I am proud to serve my community. I love finding homes for people. A home is so important. It makes you feel good to find someone the house that they love, may raise their family, retire or whatever stage of their lives it affects.
Finding or selling a home requires tremendous diligence at every step of the process. I take absolutely nothing for granted. I am in constant correspondence with listing and selling agents, inspectors, mortgage bankers, closing reps to name only a few.
One slip up or wrong assumption can cause the deal to disintegrate. And, that means telling a buyer they’ve lost the home they spent so much time and effort to find, or telling a seller that all the plans they now have in place are failed. Not on my watch. You need someone looking out for you legally, and personally; you need someone looking out for your best interest."
Becky’s ethical and responsible nature truly is DNA. Her father Charles “Charlie” Burch was a Senior Vice President of First National Bank of Athens, later acquired by SunTrust. President of nearly every philanthropic organization in Athens, he was deeply and equally dedicated to each. At UGA, Charlie played on the 1940’s basketball team. Becky’s mother Betty had a long career of teaching, for 20 years at Athens Academy. She attended Brenau University and graduated from The University of Georgia. The two are, and respectively, were living examples of gracious humanitarians.
In her personal life, Becky’s energy is a toss between tennis and dogs with the latter being the ace. Both are inexhaustible lifelong passions. She is a member of Olde Towne Tennis Club and plays on both ALTA and USTA leagues. An avid reader, she believes the best place for reading is on sand, by the ocean, and under a brilliant sun, though pools must sometimes gratefully suffice. Becky continues involvement mentoring foster children.
Her 2001 foray into real estate immediately yielded the first of many awards and recognitions - these rank as the least important aspects of her life. Making a positive impact in this world, on and off the proverbial court, is the game in which she excels and therefore receives the recognition that really matters the most to her about life.
Becky’s son Chase attended Walton High School and Georgia Southern University. He is a Project Manager for ProServe Home Solutions. Her husband Terry Smith formed Mobile Meat & Seafood premier foods more than 20 years ago, grew up in Marietta and graduated from Walton High School. They are members of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church.
